Skills and Expertise
I have more than 15 years of experience of working in Trauma and Orthopaedics after MS (ortho) at JIPMER, which is a premier institute in India. I worked at the registrar level in some of the best institutes in the UK. These include RNOH, Stanmore (peripheral Nerve Injuries under Prof Rolfe Birch), Royal Free Hospital (University College London), Wellington Hospitals London, St Mary’s and Charing Cross Hospitals (Imperial College London) and Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital, Leicester. My thesis in MS included managing patients using Ilizarov fixator. I have worked with Taylor spatial frames in the UK and so I have a sound knowledge of ring fixators in clinical practice. I have extensive experience in doing Total Knee Replacements and knee surgery and Hip Replacements. I have done a Fellowship in Knee surgery at Wellington Hospital and Royal Free Hospital, London. Wellington Hospital is one of the leading private hospitals in the UK and Royal Free Hospital was awarded Major Trust of the Year award in 2010. I have also worked as a Senior Registrar at St Mary’s Hospital in Imperial College, London which is a Major Trauma Center dealing with High energy Trauma and complicated trauma cases.
My experience and competence involves elective and trauma care of the extremities with special focus in knee surgery and hip surgery including Arthroscopic surgery and Arthroplasties and ring fixators including limb lengthening and complicated trauma.

Teaching Experience
I have had the opportunity to teach a variety of different audiences during my career and
have a keen interest in sharing the expertise I have developed. I am strongly committed to
continuing my teaching role and my teaching experience includes:
-Delivering formal lectures in Trauma and Orthopaedics for undergraduate students at
JIPMER and Cadaver Anatomy teaching for undergraduates at University of Leicester, in
addition to bedside teaching for medical students throughout my career.
-Conducted a practical workshop for students on external fixation at Imperial College,
London.
-Formal and informal teaching of junior residents, interns and nursing and paramedical in
all areas of Trauma and Orthopaedics.
-Supervising medical students, SHOs, Registrars and Training Clinical Attachees.
-Publications in a range of clinical journals.
-Regular presentations at hospital meetings.
Leadership and Management Experience
Throughout my career I have relished working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and have
contributed to the organisational and planning aspects within this environment. My
experience includes:
-Conducted a practical workshop for students on fracture fixation at Imperial College
-Attended the Keele University Management Course
-Part of the team conducting FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) examinations at Leicester and
the MSc examination at University College of London
-Leading ward rounds and multi-disciplinary ward meetings
-Preparing teaching rotas for undergraduate students
-Supervision of medical students and SHOs during Orthopaedics placements
-Running independent trauma, elective and day case theatres and allocating trauma lists
-Conducting independent fracture and orthopaedic clinics
-Attending magistrates courts as an expert witness, providing insurance reports and issuing
medico-legal certificates.
-Working as an Admin SR, preparing on-call rotas for juniors and colleagues
-Arranging theatre lists and conducting special clinics, including a polio and cerebral palsy
clinic, tumour clinic and a clubfoot clinic.
– I have worked as a Locum Consultant at Royal Free Hospital, doing specialist Knee clinics
and elective knee lists.
IT Skills
Having completed a number of skills courses in IT, including levels I and II of the ECDL, I
possess strong skills in a number of areas relating to IT. I am registered with the
Information Commissioner’s Database as a Data Controller, and am skilled in setting up and
maintaining databases. At the PNI unit, RNOH, Stanmore, and at Hillingdon Hospital, Royal
Free Hospital, I developed databases for Shoulder Deformity in OBPP and for trauma lists
respectively, which are in regular use. I am confident in the use of Reference Managers, Athens and
various on-line journals for research. I have set up webpages for orthopaedic meetings,
orthopaedic journals and orthopaedic companies (www.orthoassociations.com, www.kambhampati.net). My
Orthopaedic meetings and journals webpages rate 1st on Google search for orthopaedic .
Personal Interests & Sports
I appreciate the importance of maintaining a healthy work/life balance. I enjoy sports
particularly golf and swimming. I represented my college in cricket as an opening batsman
and wicket keeper and still enjoy the game. I have also participated in lawn tennis and
chess competitions. I also enjoy learning languages. Apart from Telugu, which is my mother
tongue, I am fluent in English, Tamil and Hindi, and currently I am working on my basic
French. I like outdoor photography of sporting event, birds, wild animals with my Pentax K7.
